SALT LAKE CITY, June 16 -- US West has named Lucent Technologies as the supplier of communications equipment for the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City. Lucent will supply communications network equipment for the athletes, visitors, media and customers at the winter games.
US West, and official sponsor of the games, is setting up a 650-mile route network as well as 31,200 fiber miles to connect all of the different sites of the Olympic events. Lucent will integrate its WaveStar optical networking products and provide design, installation and network management functions for the network overlay.
