Losses at Inrad Optics Inc. decreased in the third quarter as it finished consolidating its manufacturing and higher sales in the defense, process control and metrology markets. The third-quarter net loss was $91,000, compared to a loss of $239,000 in the third quarter of 2013. Revenue was $2.9 million, up 5.7 percent from $2.8 million in the third quarter of 2013. Although sales were up in the third quarter, the company said year-to-date sales to customers in the defense, university and national laboratory market have decreased compared to last year. Inrad specializes in crystal-based optical components and devices, custom glass and metal optical components, and precision optical and optomechanical assemblies.
