CHELMSFORD, Mass., July 30 -- Sycamore Networks Inc. said KPNQwest NV, a joint venture between Dutch telecom KPN and US carrier Qwest Communications International Inc., has installed Sycamore's fiber optic gear to move data at high speeds over its Internet network. KPNQwest is using Sycamore's SN10000 hardware, which helps carriers turn latent capacity into high-speed bandwidth, said Bill McCullen, director of product marketing for Sycamore's transport business unit. Sycamore's products, which move data across wavelengths of light, aim to boost the capacity and efficiency of carriers working under tight capital spending constraints.
