SALEM, N.H., Mar. 27 -- Stocker & Yale, Inc. has acquired a fiber drawing tower capable of producing telecom-grade specialty optical fiber. The company expects the tower -- which was purchased from Brown University for an undisclosed amount -- to facilitate its production and delivery of telecom-grade specialty optical fiber by the second quarter of this year. This new addition to our fiber optic drawing capacity opens up new opportunities for Stocker & Yale, said George Fryburg, senior vice president and general manager for the company. This telecom fiber optic production asset from Brown University will accelerate our time to market for delivering telecom specialty fiber by many months. Fryburg added, What's more, this additional equipment will greatly enhance our R&D capabilities for developing telecom fiber optic components by providing increased prototyping and evaluation capabilities. We continue to retrofit our existing towers for telecom grade optical fiber and expect to be at full capacity by quarter three.
