BOMBAY, India, Feb. 21 -- Sterlite Optical Technologies is forming a joint venture with US-based General Cable Corp. to make and market optical fiber cable products in the US. According to Sterlite, General Cable will spin off its cable manufacturing operation at Dayville, Conn., to the new joint venture. The joint venture will buy fiber from Sterlite for making cables for sale mainly in North America.
