The Sensofar Group has created separate optical metrology and medical device inspection divisions as part of a restructuring plan. Professor Dr. Ferran Laguarta, CEO of the former Sensofar-Tech, will head Sensofar Medical, overseeing the recently announced Q six system for assessment and approval of stents. Dipl. Ing. Gerald Nitsch will take over as CEO of Sensofar Metrology. A former CEO and president of Mikropack, Nitsch was most recently vice president of sales and marketing for Sensofar-Tech, with additional responsibility for the growth strategy of the business. Laguarta co-founded Sensofar in 2001 as a spin-off from the Technical University of Catalonia. The company makes optical profilers based on interferometry and confocal techniques, providing 3-D metrology systems for micromanufacturing, semiconductors, palaeontology, consumer electronics, optics, forensics and materials quality control.
