BLUE SPRINGS, Mo., June 7 -- Harmon Industries Inc. has announced that its subsidiary, SESCO, has signed two contracts with a combined value of $5.3 million. The most significant contract came from ADtranz, who agreed to pay SESCO $4.7 million to provide central control and communications systems for the 30-mile Southern New Jersey Light Rail Transit System operating between Trenton and Camden, NJ.
SESCO will provide ADtranz with an open transport network (OTN) fiber-optic transmission system. SESCO will furnish, design and integrate the OTN fiber-optic system as well as provide such communications subsystems as mobile radios, closed circuit television, telephone, and passenger information systems.
The second contract is with the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority (SEPTA). The $650,000 contract calls for SESCO to upgrade SEPTA's existing OTN fiber-optic transmission system. SESCO will be responsible for the enhancement of SEPTA's underground fiber optic communications infrastructure; used to support police operations, fare collection and many other departments.
We are very pleased to continue expanding this portion of our business, said Bjorn E. Olsson, president and CEO of Harmon Industries. Providing complete integrated application and infrastructure solutions for the transit market is vital to our long-term growth strategy.
