SEMI Awards Deep Photonics Lasers

Deep Photonics Inc., a startup technology company manufacturing deep ultraviolet (DUV laser solutions for semiconductor and electronics markets, announced today that its solid-state fiber laser systems at DUV wavelengths has won a Technology Innovation Showcase (TIS) award for test, assembly and packaging solutions from Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI). The awards, to be presented at Semicon West 2006, July 10-14 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, are part of a TechXPOT showcase that recognizes companies in the semiconductor industry. Deep Photonics' president and CEO, Joseph Lachapelle, will conduct a presentation July 11 at Semicon West 2006 on the use of 266-nm high-power fiber lasers to enable front- and back-end applications. Deep Photonics will be located in the TechXPOT Showcase in West Hall, Level 2, booth T17. Glossary
deep ultraviolet
Deep ultraviolet (DUV or deep-UV) refers to a specific range of ultraviolet light with shorter wavelengths than those in the UV-A and UV-B regions. The exact wavelength range considered as DUV can vary, but it often includes wavelengths from around 100 to 300 nanometers. DUV light is shorter in wavelength and higher in energy than visible light. DUV light covers the spectrum from approximately 100 to 300 nanometers. This range is subdivided into different sub-bands, such as UV-C (100 to...
electronics
That branch of science involved in the study and utilization of the motion, emissions and behaviors of currents of electrical energy flowing through gases, vacuums, semiconductors and conductors, not to be confused with electrics, which deals primarily with the conduction of large currents of electricity through metals.
