Widened 3D Field of View Enhances OCT Diagnostic Imaging

WASHINGTON, D.C., June 8, 2022 — Researchers at Duke University developed an optical coherence tomography (OCT) technique that delivers high contrast and high resolution over a wide, 3D field of view. The enhanced OCT technique, called 3D optical coherence refraction tomography (3D OCRT), produces highly detailed images that reveal features difficult to observe with traditional OCT. By providing clearer imaging and enhanced resolution, the approach to OCT could improve medical diagnostic imaging. According to researcher Kevin Zhou, the approach takes the existing functionalities of the volumetric imaging...Read full article

    volumetric imaging
Volumetric imaging refers to the capture, visualization, and analysis of three-dimensional (3D) information from a volume of space. Unlike traditional two-dimensional (2D) imaging, which provides information along a single plane, volumetric imaging captures data throughout a volume, enabling the reconstruction of a 3D representation. Key features and applications of volumetric imaging include: 3D data acquisition: Volumetric imaging techniques acquire data from multiple perspectives or...
