The industry needs degreed professionals, but it needs even more mid- and lower-level photonics technicians. K-12 outreach and hands-on programs are helping to fill the gap.

Earlier this year, at a major recruitment event at the University of Arizona’s Wyant College of Optical Sciences (OSC), the job openings listed outnumbered students in attendance.
