EXTON, Pa., Feb. 8 -- Rheologics Inc.announced it has completed the acquisition of Delaware-based Cytometrics Inc., a medical device company. Cytometrics' core device, the CYTOSCAN, is a patented video microscope/soft-tissue probe that captures still images of illuminated subject matter through a unique backlighting approach called orthogonal polarization spectral imaging. This technology enables physicians to better monitor changes in internal organs and in post-surgical disease states. As part of the acquisition, Rheologics obtained Cytometrics' complete device inventory, including completed units. Rheologics will provide existing and future CYTOSCAN customers with the required technical support from its Exton, Pa., headquarters, and a company-approved subcontractor will complete device assembly. Rheologics recently debuted its first medical instrument, the Kensey Rheolog blood-profiling methodology.
