Cornet Technology Inc. announced that it has received and shipped an order from defense contractor Raytheon for its iVDO 264 H.264 video encoders and decoders. The purchase supports Raytheon’s Rapid Aerostat Initial Deployment (RAID) program. The encoders are hardened to withstand wide temperature fluctuations, making them ideal for installation in the RAID towers or in aerostats, according to Cornet. The iVDO 264 encoders, which provide H.264 compression while maintaining high-quality video, will be used to convert analog video streams from surveillance cameras on top of RAID towers to digital streams for transport over IP networks. The decoders permit viewing of the video at command posts, giving field commanders added situational awareness in support of force protection. Cornet’s technology emphasis is on video, voice and data transport; communications/conference switches; comprehensive video products; and embedded boards. Headquartered in northern Virginia, Cornet Technology has wholly owned subsidiaries in Frankfurt, Germany; Tokyo; London; and Chennai, India.
