Mark Sobey, president of Coherent’s lasers segment, has retired. Sobey held the position since July 2022, when II-VI merged with Coherent. Before the merger, Sobey served as Coherent’s COO from 2020 to 2022. From 2010 to 2016, he was executive vice president and general manager of Coherent’s OEM Laser Sources, and from 2007 until 2010, he served as executive vice president and general manager of Specialty Laser Systems. Lausas joined IDEX in 2021 as vice president and chief accounting officer, and she will continue to serve in the role during this interim period. AUSTIN, Texas — Infleqtion, a quantum information company, named Brance Hudzietz director of partnerships. He will serve as the liaison between Infleqtion and current and prospective partners, strengthening collaboration, building strategic alliances, and driving business growth. Before joining Infleqtion, Hudzietz worked as an entrepreneur in residence for the Army Applications Lab, where he built relationships between nontraditional government innovators to support the U.S. Army’s modernization priorities. BERKELEY, Calif. — Scalable quantum computer manufacturer Atom Computing appointed Ken Braithwaite to its board of directors and Greg Muhlner as vice president of the public sector. Both appointments reflect the role of the U.S. government in the advancement and adoption of quantum computing. Braithwaite was sworn in as the secretary of the Navy in 2020 and previously served as a U.S. ambassador to Norway. Muhlner has 15 years of experience in business development and sales to the federal government. Before joining Atom Computing, he was vice president of sales for Rebellion Defense and led U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps sales at Amazon Web Services.
