Plasmonic Biosensor Uses Thermal and Optical Methods to Detect Coronavirus

Research labs that measure and analyze airborne pollutants have a new focus — to develop a sensor that can quickly and reliably detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Most laboratories use a molecular method to detect viruses that can lead to respiratory infections. This method, called reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), can detect viruses in tiny amounts, but can be time-consuming and prone to error.
