TORONTO, Ontario, Canada, June 30 -- Nortel Networks Corp. (Toronto) and Juniper Networks (Mountain View, Calif.) have agreed to join forces to furnish customers with an optical network that is workable with core routing products for communications networks. Nortel will offer Juniper's M-series routers to its customers, which will provide them with high-performance networks that are based on open standards, the companies said. Nortel Networks and Juniper Networks are driving the high-performance Internet to be more reliable and faster than ever before, said Scott Kriens, Juniper's CEO. The strengths of our companies will make it possible to deliver advanced IP services that will eliminate bottlenecks and meet the speed and bandwidth demands of emerging applications such as streaming video, voice over IP, and multicast.
