TORONTO, Aug. 31 -- Nortel Networks Corp. has delivered 3,000 kilometres (1,860 miles), 10 Gb/s fiberoptic ring to Embratel, Brazil's leading long-distance carrier. Nortel, based in Brampton, Ontario, and with operations around the world, did not disclose the price of the transaction, but said it deployed, aligned and tested 37 repeater stations and terminals in the ring in less than three weeks. Nortel, which has made similar deliveries to Embratel in the past, said in a statement that the delivery would bring high-performance Internet service to Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Brasilia and Goiania.
