About This Webinar
Artyushenko and Shafiee will highlight the latest advancements in fiber optic spectroscopy for biomedical applications. Various robust fiber probes will be described that have been designed for different spectroscopic techniques including transmission, reflection, ATR-absorption, Raman and fluorescence in the ultraviolet, visible, near-infrared and mid-infrared ranges. Also described will be the innovative combination probes where several methods are united in one probe to enable better specificity in media composition analysis. These advanced probes enable real-time, remote monitoring of chemical processes, while other fiber probes cover a range of medical diagnostics.
This presentation also explores the versatility, precision and numerous advantages of spectrometers as non-invasive and real-time diagnostic tools. A key application of spectroscopy is in tissue identification, diagnosis, surgical decision-making and treatment planning. The challenges posed by traditional methods and emerging technologies that have the potential to transform critical aspects of medical practice will also be discussed.

About the presenters
Viacheslav (Slava) Artyushenko, Ph.D., was born in 1954 and got his doctorate in physics of solid state in 1981 – focused on his pioneering development of unique technology of polycrystalline fibers for Mid IR-range: 3-18µm. His multiple publications and patents were devoted to specialty fiber optic technologies and their applications in laser surgery and diagnostics, in process-spectroscopy and fiber optic sensing. In 1998, Artyushenko founded art photonics GmbH in Berlin – one of the worldwide leading manufacturers of various fibers, cables, bundles and spectroscopy probes used in very broad spectral range 0.3-16µm for many industrial, medical, scientific and other applications. At the end of 2023, art photonics was acquired by Nynomic AG with 12 other partners of Nynomic group. Artyushenko and his team are the members of EPIC, CPACT, SPIE, OPTICA, SPECTARIS, Optec-BB, GDCh-DECHEMA, etc.
