MicroVision, Pioneer to Commercialize Laser Displays

REDMOND, Wash., Dec. 13, 2010 — MicroVision Inc. and Pioneer Corp. will work together to develop display engines and display engine subsystems for consumer and in-vehicle head-up displays (HUD) using MicroVision’s PicoP laser display technology, the companies announced recently. Earlier in the year, the two companies developed a joint agreement to develop two critical components of the PicoP display engine: a laser light source module using direct red, blue and green lasers and a separate display engine subsystem based on MicroVision’s PicoP laser scanning technology. Both new components are key in...Read full article

    head-up display
A head-up display (HUD) is a transparent display technology that presents information directly in the field of view of a user, typically without requiring the user to look away from their usual viewpoint. HUDs are often integrated into vehicle windshields, helmets, or eyeglasses to provide real-time information without the need for the user to divert their attention from the task at hand. Projection system: A HUD uses a projection system to display images or information onto a transparent...
    laser scanning
Laser scanning is a technology used to create precise digital representations of physical objects or environments by capturing their surface geometry and appearance. It involves directing a laser beam over the object or scene and measuring the distance to points on the surface by analyzing the time it takes for the laser pulses to return to the scanner. The process typically involves the following steps: Laser emission: A laser scanner emits a laser beam directed towards the object or...
