TRENTON, N.J., June 8 -- Lucent Technologies Inc. has offered voluntary retirement buyouts to more than 10,000 US-based employees in an effort to accelerate restructuring of the struggling telecommunications giant. The employees targeted for the offers include middle-level managers and a small percentage of nonunion clerical workers. All reportedly are either eligible or nearly eligible for a pension.
