"We're thrilled to have David join Landing AI and bring his hands-on expertise to helping manufacturers use cutting-edge deep learning," said Andrew Ng, founder and CEO of Landing AI. "The next era of AI is one in which companies in all industries access the benefits of AI. David's deep knowledge of machine vision and automation will help us get there." Dechow said, "Adoption of deep learning for machine vision applications has been somewhat slow because of practical problems, including the challenges of on-line imaging and most importantly the potentially small data sets that deep learning technology could not handle. But Landing AI's technology makes cutting-edge deep learning work for automated inspection, and I look forward to helping bring these benefits to all manufacturers." In November last year, Landing AI secured $57 million in Series A funding in a round led by McRock Capital. The investment will be used to accelerate product innovation, as well as to grow the company’s engineering and operations teams. As part of the deal, McRock cofounder and managing partner Scott MacDonald joined the Landing AI board of directors. Landing AI's flagship product is LandingLens, an enterprise machine learning operations (MLOps) platform that builds, iterates, and operationalizes AI powered visual inspection solutions for manufacturers.
