Jenoptik Group has opened its new sales, application and service site in Korea for customers and interested parties in the electronic, flat panel, photovoltaic and automotive industries to test and further develop production processes and lasers. In the presence of approximately 100 invited guests, Jenoptik’s chairman of the executive board Dr. Michael Mertin and CFO Frank Einhellinger opened the new laser application center. Among the guests were a number of customers and partners of the Jenoptik Group in Asia. A presentation was given detailing the entire product spectrum of the Lasers & Materials Processing and Optical Systems divisions. Located in Pyeongtaek, Korea, the new center offers customers and interested parties from across Asia to test lasers and laser applications from their own production environments on site with their own materials and refine processes together with Jenoptik engineers. The company invested $4.4 million in the center. The application center is sited on a campus shared with Telstar-Hommel Corp., a long-standing Jenoptik joint venture partner in the industrial metrology division. Together with its venture partner, the company founded Jenoptik Korea Corp. in July 2009 and built the application center in four months. Initially equipped with two laser systems for electronic, photovoltaics and flat panel industries, plans are in the works to expand the center with additional laser systems in the coming months as part of the Jenoptik Korea Corp. Ltd. expansion. For more information, visit: www.jenoptik.com
