Thin-film deposition and sensor developer Intevac Inc. has received two separate contracts for production with the U.S. Army. The first contract is for $6.9 million for the production of night vision cameras for the U.S. Army’s Apache Helicopter’s Pilot Night Vision Sensor (PNVS) program. The contract for 144 cameras from the Apache Project Management Office in Huntsville, Ala., will provide cameras for new Apache Airframe builds, foreign military orders, and spares. The Electronic Image Intensification camera is based on Intevac’s EBAPS (Electron Bombarded Active Pixel Sensor) digital imaging sensor for extreme low-light-level detection. Intevac has also received a $28.6 million contract award for the production of digital night vision cameras for the U.S. Army’s Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS) program. The contract was issued by SOSSEC, Inc., on behalf of the Night Vision and Electronic Sensor Directorate (NVESD) and includes the development and delivery of 2300 camera modules over two years.
