TOKYO, Jan. 30 -- Hitachi Ltd. is selling its fiber optic components division to a subsidiary for $291.9 million. The subsidiary, OpNext Japan Inc., will take over the components business at the end of this month. The company also plans to shift ownership of OpNext Japan to OpNext, one of Hitachi's wholly owned US subsidiaries, to target demand for fiber components in the US, which accounts for 60 percent of the global market.
