GigOptix Nets $750K to Update Modulator Drivers

PALO ALTO, Calif., April 12, 2011 — GigOptix Inc., a supplier of electronic and electro-optic components for fiber optic systems, has received a $750,000 purchase order for its 100G quad driver for use by a tier 1 telecommunications customer in its 100G dense wavelength division multiplexing networking systems. Delivery is planned for the second and third quarters of 2011. GigOptix’s GX62450 100G DP-QPSK (dual polarization-quadrature phase shift keying) driver is designed to be plug-in compatible with industry-available 100G multiplexer and Mach-Zehnder modulators. The GX62450’s GPPO connectorized form factor...Read full article

    dense wavelength division multiplexing
Dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) is an optical communication technique used to increase the data-carrying capacity of optical fiber networks by simultaneously transmitting multiple optical signals, each at a different wavelength, over a single optical fiber. DWDM enables the transmission of a large number of independent data channels or signals over the same fiber, effectively multiplying the network's capacity without the need for additional physical fibers. In a DWDM system,...
