Edmund Optics has opened an Assembly and Advanced Design Facility in Tucson, Ariz., its second location in the state. The 21,225-sq-ft facility will support advanced design efforts and high-volume manufacturing services, including cleanroom assembly and incoming inspection with numerous testing capabilities. The facility, said CEO Robert Edmund, allows the company to build larger collaborative partnerships with Arizona Optics Initiative and the Arizona Technology Council. Edmund has hired six engineers who will work at the new site. It intends to add additional technical staff and skilled assembly workers over the course of the year, the company said.
