Home fitness solutions developer Nautilus entered into a definitive agreement to acquire VAY, a motion tracking technology company. VAY’s technology uses machine learning and human biomechanical information to enable interpretation and analysis of human motion captured by cameras. VAY’s computer vision software analyzes movements and provides real-time feedback on exercises, enabling repetition counting, form tracking, and customized coaching. The company will incorporate VAY’s technology into its JRNY digital fitness platform. The acquisition serves to bolster Nautilus’ position in the digital fitness industry. VAY’s management and technical teams will be incorporated into the company as part of its software development group. VAY’s existing partnership with ETH Zürich will be expanded through a collaboration with the ETH AI Center and the formation of a dedicated center of excellence for the pursuit of personalized fitness. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The transaction is expected to close in the coming weeks, pending customary closing conditions.
