Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS)-based deformable mirror provider !%Boston Micromachines Corp. (BMC)%! of Cambridge, Mass., announced that it has signed a consulting agreement with Bridger Photonics Inc. of Bozeman, Mont., to quantitatively assess a new MEMS membrane deformable mirror design using BMC’s facilities. Bridger Photonics received a Small Business Technology Transfer grant from the National Science Foundation to develop a commercial prototype of an aberration-compensated focus control device. Based on MEMS technology, the device will allow the user to deflect a deformable membrane mirror in a controlled manner to select a desired focal length. It will feature active control of low-order aberrations.
