The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted Siemens Medical Solutions of Malvern, Pa., clearance for the Arcadis Avantic, a new mobile C-arm system, to be used for advanced imaging requirements in trauma and spine surgery, general surgery and urology, orthopaedic surgery and pain management, gastroenterology and vascular surgery. It is used in astrophysics to determine the rate of recession or expansion of celestial bodies. Also known as the Hubble effect.
