Trimedyne Inc. announced it has received FDA clearance to market its patented UroMAX side-firing laser needle for use with its Holmium lasers for the vaporization of tissues in urology; orthopedics; gynecology; ear, nose and throat surgery; gastrointestinal surgery; and general surgery. Trimedyne, based in Irvine, Calif., makes surgical lasers and proprietary fiber optic devices for use in a variety of minimally invasive surgical procedures.
