Companies Collaborate on MEMS Technology

Fairchild Semiconductor of South Portland, Maine, will supply OMM of San Diego with MEMS wafers for optical networking applications. The wafers are expected to provide higher yield and to lower the costs of OMM's manufacturing process. Fairchild is volume-manufacturing the wafers to meet OMM's stringent qualification process for its photonic switch products, which are Telcordia-compliant. Fairchild's manufacturing capabilities are based on the Summit IV micromachining process technology for high-reliability MEMS devices.Read full article
