Canon USA Inc. has acquired Florida-based diagnostic imaging solutions provider Virtual Imaging Inc. for an undisclosed amount, a move that Canon says will bolster its portfolio of medical imaging products. Established in 1995, Virtual Imaging is a provider of diagnostic imaging solutions and a medical systems integrator. With more than 100 employees, Virtual Imaging serves large complex hospital organizations, imaging centers and private physician offices and is the national distributor of Canon’s Digital Radiography (DR) systems. “Canon and Virtual Imaging have had a long-standing relationship that has benefited both companies over the years. This acquisition will position Canon well for future growth in the medical imaging and health care marketplace,” said Joe Adachi, president and CEO, Canon USA. “Having Virtual Imaging join the Canon family will allow us to better offer a comprehensive line of cost-effective Canon certified medical imaging solutions and services.” “This is a really exciting time to be involved with Canon in the medical imaging market,” said Tim Martinson, president of Virtual Imaging, who will continue to manage the day-to-day operations of the organization, and report directly to Adachi. “Canon has distinguished itself in the marketplace as a DR innovator, and we expect the company to continue to be a leader with its future products and innovations.” For more information, visit: www.usa.canon.com
