To combine the technical expertise of the Centre for Integrated Photonics of Ipswich with the marketing and business skills of Technology for Industry Ltd. (TFI) of Ely, the two UK entities have formed a partnership. TFI's understanding of photonics and micro- and nanotechnology together with its knowledge of the marketplace will help develop the center's business services, which include the design of customized photonic devices ranging from single items to functional prototypes to pilot production. The organization will identify new applications and contact potential customers for the center, which offers an open-style laboratory serving industry and higher education.
