Allied Vision Technologies (AVT) opened a new sales office in Shanghai on Wednesday to oversee its expanding business in mainland China and to provide technical support and customer service locally. AVT makes and sells cameras and components for image processing in industrial and life sciences applications, including machine vision. The new office is in the heart of the Xuhui district and is the company's second Asia-Pacific location, as Allied Vision Technologies Asia Pte Ltd. opened in Singapore in March 2010. The company is based in Stadtroda, Germany. "The Chinese market is one of the largest machine vision markets in the world and had tremendous potential," said Frank Grube, AVT president and CEO. "We are truly excited to strengthen our position in East Asia with the addition of a second sales office in the region." The new sales manager for Allied Vision Technologies (Shanghai) Co. Ltd is Qingtao "James" Liu, who has a background in electronic engineering and 15 years of experience working in the semiconductor, consumer electronics and manufacturing industries in China and South Korea.
