CANTON, Mass., Feb. 9 -- Robotic Vision Systems Inc. (RVSI) has received two orders from Korean semiconductor manufacturers for RVSI Electronics' LS-7700 laser-based in-tray, three-dimensional chip inspection systems. According to RVSI, the orders -- valued at more than $1 million -- indicate a resurgence of activity by Korean chip makers. Following a period when Korean companies represented a sizeable percentage of semiconductor capital equipment purchases, that region has been a relatively quiet market for back-end equipment suppliers for the past year and a half, said Michael Gray, RVSI Electronics' vice president of sales and marketing. These orders, coupled with substantial requests for quotations, are clear evidence that Korean business is returning. Korea has historically represented a large market for our products.
