CRANBURY, N.J., April 16 -- Princeton Lightwave Inc., a supplier of near-infrared, high-power lasers and specialized detectors for communications, sensing and instrumentation markets, announced it has purchased the optical channel monitor (OCM) product line of OFS, a distributor of optical fiber, optical fiber cable, optical connectivity and specialty photonics products. Financial details were not disclosed.

Princeton Lightwave now owns the physical assets, rights, designs, know-how and other intellectual property from OFS's OCM product line. OFS, based in Norcross, Ga., is owned by Furukawa Electric and CommScope Inc. The OCM product line is distributed from its Somerset, N.J., facility.

Princeton Lightwave said it will enhance its product offering into optical networking subsystems. The company already offers optical devices and modules based on semiconductor sources and detectors.

Yves Dzialowski, CEO of Princeton Lightwave, said it has hired all current OFS employees connected with the design and manufacture of OCMs and that the team is already involved in making the transition.
