CAMBRIDGE, England, Nov. 11 -- Polatis, a supplier of ultralow-loss optical switches, announced it has raised $9.4 million in its third round of funding, from investors 3i, Alta Berkeley, EonTech Ventures and Prelude Trust plc.
"This financing round will allow us to ramp up our manufacturing capability in-line with customer demand," said CEO Dave Lewis. "It will also provide the funds we need to extend our product portfolio to include complementary products that we will be announcing in the very near future."
Polatis's photonic switch products use its patented micro-actuation and sensing system (MASS) -- a compact, direct optical beam steering technology similar to that used in hard-disk drives and inkjet printers. Initial products include modular and rack-mount switches for use in automated test, defense, telecommunication, and video switching applications.
