BEAVERTON, Ore., Aug. 13 -- Planar Systems Inc. has named Kimmo Karhunen vice president of the flat-panel display manufacturer's components group and managing director of operations in Finland. Karhunen comes to Planar from Tektronix Inc., where he held the positions of sales manager (Finland and Nordic), managing director for operations in Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Germany, and most recently, vice president and general manager of the company's measurement business division in its European headquarters.
We chose Mr. Karhunen because of his demonstrated leadership selling and marketing technology in Europe, says Christopher N. King, Planar's executive vice president. We believe he will help Planar successfully position the full breadth of our display product lines generating the kind of strategic accounts and rapid business growth we expect from the expanding European market.
