June 15 is the deadline for research paper submissions to Photonics Asia 2007, sponsored by SPIE and the Chinese Optical Society (COS), to be held Nov. 11-15 at the Juihua Grand Convention and Exhibition Center in Beijing. Topics will include high-power lasers; semiconductor lasers and applications; materials, devices and sensors for sensing and imaging; optics in health care and biomedical optics; solar energy technology and solid-state lighting; micromechanical systems and nanotechnologies and applications; optical data storage; information optics and nonlinear optics; advanced microlithography; infrared technologies; electronic imaging; holography; and optical design and testing. Symposium chairmen are 2007 SPIE President Brian Culshaw, a professor of electronic and electrical engineering at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland; and Bingkin Zhou, COS president and a professor of wireless electronic engineering at Tsinghua University, Beijing.
