A collaboration agreement between Phase Holographic Imaging (PHI) of Lund, Sweden, and Northeastern University of Boston has been announced. PHI will provide Northeastern with HoloMonitor technology to establish novel cell-analysis applications and techniques based on PHI’s noninvasive time-lapse imaging cytometry technology. The two organizations hope to create a regional educational resource for training in using time-lapse cytometry techniques while fostering cross-disciplinary collaborations in cell-based research. “PHI’s technology brings us the capability to visualize and quantify cells without stains that can interfere with cellular physiology,” said Ed Luther, manager of Northeastern’s Core Imaging and Cytometry facility. “The ability to obtain holographic time-lapse videos with all of the cells in focus allows us to identify specific stages of the cell cycle affected by experimental pharmacological compounds.”
