Health sciences and photonics company PerkinElmer Inc. of Waltham, Mass., announced that Patrick J. Sullivan, executive chairman of Hologic Inc., has been elected to its board of directors. Sullivan has extensive management experience in the diagnostic and medical device industries. Prior to his appointment at Hologic, a Bedford, Mass.-based provider of diagnostic imaging and digital imaging systems geared toward women's health, he served as chairman, president and CEO of Cytyc Corp., a medical device provider that merged with Hologic in October 2007. Before that, Sullivan held sales and marketing leadership positions with Abbott Laboratories, where he played a key role in driving the growth of its physician office diagnostics business. He has also worked as a consultant with McKinsey & Co.
