In its next step to acquire miCos GmbH, PI (Physik Instrumente) LP announced that, effective June 1, it will handle sales, distribution and servicing of the company’s products for the US, Mexico and Canada.

The distribution system for miCos’ products will be integrated into PI’s North American organization. In addition, Micos USA will be renamed Micronix USA but will continue to be led by Manfred Schneider, who has successfully grown the business in the US over the past six years. The renamed company will continue to support products developed by Micos USA, including the PPS, PP and VT product lines.

All other miCos GmbH products will now be marketed globally under the new PI miCos brand name.

The integration of PI and miCos GmbH, along with PI’s acquisition of distribution rights in the US, concludes the merger of both companies following PI’s becoming majority owner of miCos in September 2011. (See: PI Acquires Majority Stake in miCos)

The acquisition will allow PI to supplement its nanopositioning and micropositioning portfolio with products in the vacuum positioning technology and system integration field.
