Osram Hires Jianzhong Jiao
LED maker Osram Opto Semiconductors announced it has hired Jianzhong Jiao, PhD, as manager of regulations and emerging technologies. He will be responsible for maintaining regulatory standards for solid-state semiconductor technology and for exploring sensing, illumination and visualization applications. Jiao, an internationally recognized expert in transportation lighting and optical engineering, was formerly manager of engineering technology at North American Lighting Inc. Jiao has a doctorate in electrical engineering from Northwestern University, a masters in applied physics from the Beijing Institute of Posts and Communications and a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from Beijing Polytechnic University. He has been a faculty member at several institutions, including Purdue University and Lawrence Technological University, and has been chairman of the Society of Automobile Engineers (SAE) World Congress Lighting Technology Conference and vice chairman of the SAE Lighting standards committees and its signal and marketing devices subcommittee. He has written many books and technical papers on and hold nine US patents for lighting technologies.
