OTTAWA, Canada, March 19 -- Optiwave Corp., optical simulation software developer for the fiber optics telecommunications industry, and Corning Inc. have entered into an OEM agreement whereby Optiwave's EDFA_Design LITE software tool for the design of optical amplifiers and lasers will be distributed with Corning PureMode erbium-doped photonic fiber. Optiwave's software tool will use encrypted characterized data to enable easy amplifier design based on PureMode fiber.
The agreement involves the distribution of two versions of Optiwave's EDFA_Design LITE software. The relationship will allow Corning and Optiwave to combine their technological expertise to target the high-growth fiber optics market.
EDFA_Design LITE allows users to evaluate or predict the behaviour of real erbium-doped fiber amplifiers, using specific fiber data provided by the manufacturer.
