Some bright lights are making very early contributions to photonics.

They’re making headlines for solving theoretical and real-world problems – and they haven’t celebrated their 20th birthdays yet.

These teens are fighting cancer, studying optical materials, inventing new photonic devices, advising President Obama on science issues and more – even tackling the problem of attracting students into STEM careers.

This year’s “Ones to Watch” list recognizes a number of young people who will likely help shape the future of photonics and, in so doing, help shape all our futures.
