OTTAWA, Canada, July 12 -- OZ Optics Ltd, a supplier of fiber optic products for existing and next-generation optical networks, announced that they have developed polarization insensitive tuneable wavelength fiber optic filters, suitable for today's telecommunication applications. These filters exhibit less than 0.5 dB polarization dependent losses (PDL) over a 50 nm tuning range. Furthermore, the filter transmission curve profiles are polarization independent, thus ensuring that there is no variation in the transmission behavior with polarization. Initial filters demonstrate a 1.2 nm or larger line width, with a 50 nm tuning range, covering the entire L or C or S band. Future filters will feature as low as 0.3 nm line widths with 50nm tuning ranges, making them ideal for tuneable lasers, spectral analyzers and erbium doped amplifier systems. Future filters are also expected to demonstrate even lower PDL for critical applications.
