More than 1000 visitors turned out for OPTO-Northeast and Imaging 2001's opening Tuesday in Rochester, N.Y. The meeting features six conferences, several short courses and a technical exhibit with more than 150 companies showcasing their products and services.
According to the show's sponsors -- SPIE, OSA and the local OSA section -- the meeting brings the local optics, photonics and imaging community together for a two-day exchange of ideas, product information and technology know how. And, unlike other scientific meetings, which focus purely on narrow research, OPTO-Northeast provides a comprehensive overview of the growth and importance of critical optics-related technologies across this region.
Other conference highlights include: 11 topical courses; Plenary/Keynote speakers; a networking reception; Student Poster Session; an Evening Program and Reception for Educators; and a Women in Optics lunch.
