eMagin Corp. of Bellevue, Wash., a provider of OLED (organic light-emitting diode) technology and personal display systems, has appointed retired US Army Brig. Gen. Stephen Seay to its board of directors. Seay has held a variety of command and staff positions in his 33-year career and spent his final assignment volunteering with his troops in Iraq. eMagin officials say they expect his guidance will enable the company to develop more useful components and virtual imaging systems for military, as well as industrial and consumer gaming applications. . . . Super Vision International Inc., an Orlando, Fla.-based manufacturer of LED and fiber-optic lighting systems for applications in the commercial, architectural, signage, swimming pool and retail lighting markets, has announced the resignation of board member David Feldman, president of Cooper Lighting, and the election of Mike Bauer, Super Vision's new president/CEO, to its board of directors and the board's strategic initiatives committee. . . . Universal Display Corp. (UDC) of Ewing, N.J., a developer of OLED technologies and materials for use in the electronic flat panel display, lighting and other optoelectronic markets, announced that it has been awarded a significant patent covering ink-jet printing of phosphorescent OLED (PHOLED) displays. UDC says PHOLED technology is up to four times more efficient that conventional OLED while providing excellent color quality and long-operating lifetime. The company said that UDC's technology is currently being evaluated for commercial production by leading electronic display manufacturers for active-matrix OLED displays.
