Mohawk Valley EDGE (Economic Development Growth Enterprises Corp.), announced today that Lawrence T. Gilroy III, president of Gilroy, Kernan and Gilroy Insurance in Utica, was elected chairman of the board at its meeting Tuesday. He replaces Kenneth M. Tompkins. EDGE, an economic development corporation serving New York State's Oneida and Herkimer counties, is the site developer and marketing organization for Marcy NanoCenter at the State University of New York Institute of Technology campus in Rome, N.Y. Re-elected EDGE officers are Laura Casamen, vice chairman, and Paul Totaro, treasurer. Casamento is vice president for institutional advancement at Utica College, and Totaro is vice president and chief financial officer at ECR International, a Utica maker of hydronic and forced-air products. They will serve one-year terms. The board also elected five new members and re-elected 10 directors. New members: John F. Buffa, senior vice president, NBT Bank; Alicia A. Dicks, regional executive director for National Grid; Timothy R. Reed, executive director of the Boilermaker Road Race; Lee Deamicis, vice president of M&T Bank; and Brian R. Loughlin, senior vice president, Bank of Utica. Buffa, Dicks and Reed will serve full three-year terms, and Deamicis and Loughlin will serve two-year terms. Re-elected to three-year terms: Francis J. Behlmer, managing director, Bank of New York Mellon; H. Thomas Clark Jr., president of Adirondack Bank and owner of the McDonald's restaurants in Utica; Marianne Gaige, president, Cathedral Corp.; Lawrence T. Gilroy III, president, Gilroy, Kernan and Gilroy; Jeremiah O. McCarthy, president, Northland Communications; Eugene F. Quadraro, director, MetLife; J. Douglas Robinson, president, Utica National Insurance; Peter A. Spina, president, State University of New York Institute of Technology; Paul Totaro; Randall J. VanWagoner, president of Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica.
