ALBANY, N.Y., April 4, 2016 — New York State Senator Joseph Griffo and State Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi announced today that the 2016-2017 State Budget includes $585 million in state funding for the Marcy Nanocenter site.
Within the Marcy Nanocenter, AMS Technologies AG is already investing $2 billion to develop a three-story, 360,000-sq-ft chip wafer fabrication facility on the State University of New York Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly) campus. The global optical, power and thermal management technology company serves high-tech markets including renewable energies, medical, defense and aerospace, research and scientific, and other industrial segments.
These investments, as well as that of GE Global Research's at the SUNY Poly Computer Chip Commercialization Center (Quad-C), are expected to create several thousand new jobs in the years ahead.
