SOUTH PLAINIFIELD, N.J., May 16 -- Multiplex Inc. has announced the purchase of a new 226,000 square foot facility. The new building, located at 5000 Hadley Road in South Plainfield, will incorporate Multiplex's new corporate headquarters and will greatly increase manufacturing capacity. The company will move into the new facility during the fourth quarter of 2001. Construction on the building will include state-of-the-art material growth, processing, packaging, and assembly lines. Multiplex will continue to maintain the two other South Plainfield facilities, as well as the high-speed design center located in San Jose, California. "Multiplex has grown enormously since the company was founded", said Dr. Won T. Tsang, President and CEO of Multiplex. "The growing demands for Multiplex's product lines have greatly accelerated our need for space. As a result of this purchase, we now have four facilities with an area of approximately 270,000 square feet. Multiplex is one of the world's leading developers of high-end, active photon components and subsystems for end-to-end telecom applications. Product offerings include 10Gb/s 1550nm and 1310nm EMLs; high-sensitivity 10Gb/s photorecievers; high-power 980nm pump lasers; ultra-high-power 980nm pump laser combiners; 10Gb/s tunable EML transmitters; and 10Gb/s transponders.
